With offices in Stockholm, Zurich and Newcastle, we serve leading academic universities, biotech companies, and leading pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Our products and solutions enable breakthroughs in the understanding of human biology and disease, and support scientists in their work to improve diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Today, we are about 125 employees in total, of which 75 are based in Stockholm. We are well commercially established with solid growth and profitability. With the support from our long-term owner Investor AB, we have set out to become a world leader in this niche of the life science industry. Our vision is for every therapeutic discovery to be enhanced by solutions from our Group.
Our Finance function currently consists of a Group CFO, one controller and one accountant. As part of our growth journey, we are seeking to strengthen the team with an Accounting Manager.
As Accounting Manager, you are responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and financial control within the Group. You lead the work to ensure accurate and timely financial and tax reporting across our subsidiaries, in some cases working with outsourcing partners. You also continuously seek to improve our processes and systems. You are the lead speaking partner to our auditor, and from time-to-time interact with other consultants. The role also implies cooperation with the business control team, for instance during management reporting and budget processes. You report directly to the Group CFO. Your responsibilities include:
- Overall responsibility for maintaining accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting across the Group
- Ownership of the month-end processes, ensuring accounts are fully reconciled and reporting completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Ownership of legal entities across the Group from a financial reporting and tax perspective, partly through local business partners in our subsidiaries
- Consolidated monthly financial IFRS reporting (IS, BS and CFS) to shareholders
- Leading the annual audit process and the preparation of annual reports
- Cooperation with business control around monthly management reporting
- Driving improvements to processes and systems relating to the Group’s financial reporting and control function
- From time to time, addressing international tax matters supported by the Group CFO and external advisors
To succeed in this role, we believe you have at least 4-5 years’ experience from roles within accounting/auditing/finance administration, and therefore a thorough understanding of financial accounting and reporting practices and good knowledge of Swedish accounting standards and tax legislation. Further qualifications:
- University degree in business administration, preferably finance or accounting
- Auditing experience and IFRS experience is a merit but no requirement
- Experience working in financial ERP systems, and good knowledge of Excel
- External relationship management experience (e.g. auditors / tax advisors)
- Leadership experience and experience working in an international environment is a merit
- Fluency in English and Swedish
As a person, we believe you are a team player with a hands-on attitude:
- Able to take initiative and see projects through to completion in a changing environment
- A “self-starter”, with ability and willingness to learn on the go
- Eager to develop; both in your personal skills but also passionate about being part of building a best-in-class Finance function
- Organized and efficient, with attention to detail
We offer you the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Finance function of our Group, and to further develop your skills and talents along with the growth of our business. While you will have a large mandate, you will also have access to a sounding board of leading finance, accounting and tax experts at our main owner Investor AB. Your work will have a direct impact on the success of our Group, and hence ultimately on our ability to further the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
